Thursday morning, Ronald Hughey, Head Coach of Houston Cougars Women's Basketball, announced the signing of 6'1" guard Shalexxus Aaron from Oregon State.

Aaron, who started her career in 2017-18 at USC, has played 88 games at the Division I level, averaging 7.0 points a game in her four-year playing career.

She played the 2022-23 season at Oregon State where she was made 32.9 percent of her three-point attempts and 40.1 percent from the floor overall.

In her 31 games in 2022-23, Aaron started 25 for the Beavers and shot 86.2 percent from the free throw line, pulling down 2.2 rebounds per game while dishing out 1.1 assists a game.

Prior to her 1 season at Oregon State, Aaron played the 2021-22 season at Texas Southern. She averaged 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and over 2.0 assists per game for Texas Southern.

Aaron spent her first four years at USC, sitting out the 2019-20 season due to injury. She shot 42.2 percent from the floor and averaged 6.6 points per game in her two seasons of play for Southern Cal.

She redshirted her first season (2017-18) at USC while recovering from a knee injury sustained at the end of her high school season.

Aaron is the 6th addition to Houston's 2023-24 roster. In addition to Aaron, Coach Hughey signed 5'9 transfer Gia Cooke from Maryland in April; 6'4 transfer Peyton McFarland from Utah; 5'6" guard N'yah Boyd, 6'0" Maliyah Johnson from Pitt in March and 6'2" Djessira Diawara from Clarendon College on April 13.
