5'9" Gia Cooke transfers from Maryland to Houston Cougars Women's Basketball

Thursday afternoon, the Houston Cougars Women's Basketball program announced the Gia Cooke who signed a valid financial aid agreement.
Cooke, 5'9" guard, comes to the Coogs from the Maryland Terrapins women's basketball program. She played one season at Maryland appearing in 25 games off the bench for Terps.
In 25 games for the Terps in 2022-23, Cooke averaged 6.4 minutes per game. She scored 2.2 ppg on 16 for 57 (28.1 fg%). Cooke made 24 of 35 (68.6 ft%) free throws.
Cooke is the 5th addition to Houston's 2023-24 roster. In addition to Cooke, Houston Head Coach Ronald Hughey signed 6'4 transfer Peyton McFarland from Utah; 5'6" guard N'yah Boyd, 6'0" Maliyah Johnson from Pitt in March and 6'2" Djessira Diawara from Clarendon College on April 13.
