6'4" Peyton McFarland transfers to Houston Cougars Women's Basketball

Houston Cougars women's basketball head coach Ronald Hughey announced the signing of 6'4" Peyton McFarland to a scholarship to play for the Coogs in the 2023-24 season. McFarland comes to Houston as a transfer from the Utah Utes.
McFarland, in 2022-23, appeared in 13 contests and averaged 5.9 minutes, 1.5 points, and 1.5 rebounds per game. She shot 45.0 percent (9-of-20) from the floor and led the Utes in rebounding in one contest.
In 2021-22, McFarland appeared in 26 contests making five starts, and averaged 14.7 minutes, 6.7 points, and 4.3 rebounds per game.
In her freshman season, 2020-21, McFarland played in 20 games, averaging 15.1 minutes, 3.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and a team-high 1.1 blocks per game.
McFarland is the 4th addition to Houston's 2023-24 roster. In addition to McFarland, Coach Hughey signed 5'6" guard N'yah Boyd, 6'0" Maliyah Johnson from Pitt in March and 6'2" Djessira Diawara from Clarendon College on April 13.
