Maliyah Johnson transfers to Houston from Pitt

Houston women's basketball head coach Ronald Hughey announced the signing of transfer Maliyah Johnson from Pittsburgh on Friday after the sophomore averaged 8.5 points per game and 25.4 minutes per game for the Panthers in the ACC.
Johnson, 6'0", from Columbus, OH, joins the Cougars with two years of eligibility remaining after appearing in 57 total games for Pitt. Johnson started 26 of the 30 games she played in during the 2022-23 season and shot 38.0 percent from the field this past season.
Johnson scored in double figures 13 times in 2022-23 including a career-high 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting against Bryant. Johnson made 30.8 percent of her three-point attempts during the year for Pitt and made 86.2 percent of her 29 free throw attempts.
