Kelvin Sampson: "Justin Gorham is a huge, huge part of our future."
November 20, 2018 -- 1:50 p.m. CST
Today is an off day for the Houston Cougars men's basketball team. After Monday night's 82-55 win over the Northwestern State Demons, the Coogs are 3-0. Obviously, the 2018-'19 season just started; however, the last few days, Houston announced the signings of Caleb Mills, J'Wan Roberts, and Marcus Sasser. All three are expected to contribute on the 2019-2020 Houston squad.
One more name to add to that trio: Justin Gorham. Gorham announced his transfer to Houston from Towson on June 26th.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Gorham will sit out the 2018-19 season and have two years eligibility remaining. However, Gorham does practice with this year's team. His skills are obvious. Gorham, 6'7", 225, shoots very well from three-point range; and, he's a solid rebounder.
"Justin Gorham is a huge, huge part of our future. I wish he was eligible now," said Houston Cougars Head Coach Kelvin Sampson.
"He'd help us today; but, Justin is what I look for in a big guy," Sampson continued. "He has a really good inside game. He's comfortable catching that ball 10 feet from the basket; with his back to it or 10 feet facing up. He's one of the best three-point shooters on our team right now. He's extremely coachable. Getting tougher. He's learning how to compete."
Sampson continued his evaluation of Gorham with more positive words:
"Justin will factor into the success we have over the next two years after this year. I'm really excited. He's 6'7"; long arms; about 225. If I had to draw up what I wanted my four man to look like, it would be Justin Gorham."
Houston's next game this season is Saturday, November 24, in Provo, Utah, against the BYU Cougars. Tip is set for 5 p.m. Central Time. BYU TV will broadcast the game.
