Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Moves up 7 spots to No. 10 in Week 2 AP Poll

After a 3-0 start to the 2020-'21 season, the Houston Cougars Men's Basketball program has moved into the Top 10 in Week 2 of the Associated Press poll.

The Cougars received 949 points -- an increase of 511 points -- compared to the 438 points Houston received in the Week 1 AP poll.

This marks the second time in the last three seasons that Houston stood among the nation's Top 10.

During the 2018-19 season, the Coogs appeared in the AP Top 10 for three straight weeks, eventually finishing ranked 11th, after advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984.

Houston opened the 2020-'21 season with an 89-45 home win over the Lamar Cardinals on Wednesday, November 25th. Next, Houston defeated Boise State 68-58 Friday, November 27th. Then, Houston capped off its week with a 64-53 neutral-site win over Texas Tech on November 27 in Fort Worth, TX. Texas Tech was ranked 14th in the AP's Week 1 poll.

Houston's next game will be Saturday, December 5th, versus South Carolina, inside Fertitta Center. The matchup is part of the American Athletic Conference / SEC Alliance.
