POSTED: November 14, 2024 -- 10:09 p.m. CT
Rice Owls men's basketball coach Rob Lanier has announced his signing class for the 2025-26 season.
Cam Carroll (Grand Prairie, TX), Evan Cochran (Katy, TX), and Bodey Howell (Meridian, ID) have signed national letters of intent for the 2025-26 school year.
Carroll, a 6'2" guard, currently plays at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas. Last year, he averaged 15.4 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.1 rebounds, helping the Warriors to a 29-7 record and a District championship. He was named the District 8-6A Offensive Player of the Year. A 1,000-point scorer, he was named the district's Freshman and Sophomore of the Year. A three-star by 247sports, he is the 19th ranked player in Texas.
Cochran is a 6'9" forward that plays for The Village School in Katy, Texas. Last year, he averaged a double-double, scoring 20 points while pulling down 10 rebounds per game. He is a three-time Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 6A All-District 2, and last year, he was named to the TAPPS 6A All-State First Team. He was also a member of the 6A Academic All-State Team after earning a 4.0 GPA.
Howell, a 6'4" guard from Meridian, Id., plays for Owyhee High School. Last year, he averaged 20.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, leading the Storm to a 24-3 record and the state championship, earning All-State tournament First Team honors. A three-time All-State player, he's ranked three stars by 247sports, and is the second ranked player in Idaho.
"This is a big day for Rice Basketball," said Lanier. "We have added the three guys we really wanted. Cam, Bodey, and Evan all represent a great fit for our program as they all bring high character, a love of the game, high-level skill, and toughness. Cam is a true point guard with natural leadership qualities and the skill to match. He is a winner and our expectations for him are very high. Bodey brings tremendous versatility and a natural ability to score the basketball. He's highly skilled, athletic, and plays the game with feel and confidence. Along with his significant size and skill, Evan is a tough competitor. He's a knock down shooter with a natural feel for the game. I believe, with added strength and experience, Evan will become a great player."
