Olivari, Fiedler, Mason, Evee Earn All-Conference Honors

POSTED: March 7, 2023 -- 12:43 p.m. CT

Four Rice Men's Basketball players have been awarded All-Conference honors, the Conference USA office announced Tuesday morning.

Guard Quincy Olivari and big man Max Fiedler have been named Second Team All-Conference USA. Guard Travis Evee was named C-USA Honorable Mention and guard Mekhi Mason was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Olivari becomes the fourth player in school history to make the team twice, having been named to the Third team in 2021. He is third in C-USA with 19.3 points per game and three-pointers made per game (2.9), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.379), fifth in field goal percentage (.423) and sixth in free throw percentage (.803) while placing third on the team with 5.9 rebounds per game.

He has connected on 89 three-pointers, which is the second-most in school history. Olivari has led the team in scoring a team-high 19 times and has recorded 29 double-figure scoring games, including 28 consecutive. He leads the Owls with fifteen 20-point games and is one of 28 players in the country with four 30-point games, including a season-high 34 against WKU. He twice earned the Conference USA Player of the Week and set the school all-time three-point mark with 247.

Fiedler is scoring 10.6 points per game. He's connecting on 72.2% from the field while leading C-USA with 5.0 assists per game. He's also third in rebounds (7.7) and double-doubles (7), and is seventh in blocks per game (1.1).

Fiedler is the first player in school history to record three straight seasons with 300 points, 200 rebounds and 100 assists, as well as 1,000 career points, 800 rebounds and 375 assists. He's had 18 games with 10+ points and a team-high 10 with 10+ rebounds. Fiedler also recorded the second triple-double in school history and 21st in C-USA history at UTSA on January 16 with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

Evee is second on the team and sixth in Conference USA with 15.4 points per game while adding 2.8 assists per game. He is fifth in the league in free throw percentage (.824) and sixth in three-pointers (72).

Evee has led the team in scoring six times and has scored double-figures 24 times. He has nine 20-point games, including a season-high 31 points in the Owls' victory over Western Michigan.

Mason becomes the seventh Owl to earn All-Freshman honors and the first since Chris Mullins in 2019. He's fourth on team with 10.1 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game and is connecting on 38.1% from three. He's scored double-figures 14 times, including a season-high 25 points against Houston Christian. A four-time C-USA Freshman of the Week, he became the first Owl freshman with a double-double since Quentin Millora-Brown in 2018, recording one versus Georgia Southern.

The sixth-seeded Owls begin the Conference USA Tournament on Wednesday, March 8, when they face 11th-seed UTSA. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
