Rice Men's Basketball Names Matt Richardson Director of Operations
POSTED: July 1, 2022 -- 11:35 a.m. CT
Rice men's basketball head coach Scott Pera announced the addition of Matt Richardson as Director of Operations Friday morning.
“We are all very happy to have Matt join the staff,” said Pera. “He brings a lot of experience to a very important position. He has been a part of a successful program and worked for a well-respected Head Coach in Russell Turner. As Director of Operations, he will wear many hats, and the fact that he has done it and done it well for the last few years will help our program immensely.”
Richardson joins the Owls after spending the last three seasons at UC-Irvine where he helped the Anteaters to three straight winning seasons, including a 21-win season and a Big West regular season championship in 2019-20. In his role, he was responsible for coordinating team travel, meals, purchasing, and other day-to-day responsibilities for the program. He also handled scheduling, scouting opponents, and assisted in running the summer UC-Irvine youth basketball camps.
Prior to UCI, Richardson served two years at Tennessee State where as the men's basketball Director of Operations, Video Coordinator, and Director of Player Development from 2017-2019 after spending one year as a Graduate Assistant at Pittsburgh.
