Tuesday afternoon, James Sears Bryant Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell announced the signing of Deshon Proctor to a National Letter of Intent for the 2021-22 season.

Proctor, a 6'5" forward, Tyrone, GA, where he is a team captain for a Sandy Creek High School team, coached by Jon-Michael Nickerson, that reached the state quarterfinals last season and the state semifinals the two previous years. A starter throughout his high school career, he has helped lead the Patriots to a 77-15 record during his first three seasons with a 41-1 record on their home floor. As a junior, Proctor earned all-state honors after averaging 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot per game. He is a two-time all-region performer and played a pivotal role in Sandy Creek recording the most wins in school history, 27, during his sophomore year.

"HBU has a winning program that I believe I can be successful in. The coaching staff is great and it's a family-built team!" Proctor said. "They have what I need athletically and academically to take me further places in the future!"

"Deshon Proctor is a really good athlete who is long and physical," Coach Cottrell said. "We've watched him, over the last several years, develop into a tremendous prospect and we're thrilled to get him out of the Atlanta area. Physically, he's got a strong, college-ready, body and a lot like some of the other guys we've signed recently, he can play multiple positions. He's another young man we're excited to add to our program and we feel like he's a terrific fit on, and off, the court."
