Rockets Re-sign Jae'Sean Tate

The Houston Rockets today announced they have re-signed forward Jae'Sean Tate. He originally joined the Rockets as an undrafted free agent on Nov. 25, 2020. The deal, reportedly, is for 1-year at the veteran minimum worth about $3.07 million with a partial guarantee worth $1.04 million.

In 46 games last season, Tate averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per 36 minutes played. He shot a career-high 51.4% from the floor and only committed 16 turnovers in 405 minutes of play.

Tate is approaching his seventh season as a Rocket. In franchise history, only 15 players have played at least seven seasons as a Rocket, including current center Clint Capela. Tate has the third-most games played (342) by any undrafted player in franchise history, trailing Matt Bullard (538) and Chuck Hayes (426). Moses Malone was not drafted into the NBA but entered the league through the ABA dispersal draft.

Following his senior season at Ohio State in 2017-18, Tate played overseas in Belgium and Australia. He made his NBA debut in 2020-21 and became the first Rocket to earn All-Rookie First Team honors since Luis Scola in 2007-08.
