CINCINNATI, OH -- Fifth Third Arena

The Houston Cougars defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats, 67-60, Saturday afternoon inside Fifth Third Arena. Houston freshman guard Kingston Flemings (19) and senior guard Milos Uzan (18) combined for 37 points to lead Houston to the victory.

Houston (13-1 overall, 1-0 Big 12) extended Division I's longest active and Big 12 Conference road winning streak to 15 games.

Uzan shook off 1 for 7 shooting and 2 points in the first half scoring 16 points (6 for 7 field goals -- 4 for 5 three-pointers) in the second half.

"I think the guy that just willed us was Milos," Kelvin Sampson, Houston Head Coach, said during the postgame press conference.

"Coach came into the locker room and said our seniors weren't stepping up," Uzan said after the game. "I thought we needed help on the offensive end; so, just try to do whatever it takes to win."

Houston and Cincinnati (8-6, 0-1) struggled to make shots early in the game. The score was tied 4-4 eight minutes into the contest.

The Bearcats went on a 13-4 run and led Houston 17-8; however, Houston responded with a 10-0 run that took just 95 seconds. Uzan started the run with a driving layup. Flemings capped the run with a driving layup.

In between the layups, Houston veteran big man Khalifa Sakho had two dunks while freshman Isiah Harwell sank a jumper.

Houston led 24-21 with 3:32 remaining in the first half. Cincinnati guard Day Day Thomas got hot and scored the Bearcats' next 12 points to give Cincinnati a 33-28 lead at halftime.

Houston senior guard Emanuel Sharp defended Thomas in the second half. Thomas scored 3 points (all free throws) in the second half.

Cincinnati held a 40-30 lead when Uzan knocked down back-to-back three-point shots to trim Houston's deficit to 4 (40-36). Flemings split 2 free throws before Houston junior big man JoJo Tugler tipped in a layup. Uzan nailed his third three-pointer of the half to tie the game at 42.

With 2:48 remaining in the game and the scored tied at 60, Uzan hit a pull-up three-pointer to give Houston a 63-60 lead. Cincinnati did not score a single point -- and committed 4 turnovers -- the final 3:52 of the game.

Houston finished the game with a 34-30 rebounding edge -- Cincinnati had 15-8 edge on the boards with 7:39 remaining in the first half.

"Emanuel did an awesome job on Day Day second half," Coach Sampson remarked. "Then, at some point we got to get home on the boards.

"We scored 18 points off their turnovers. We scored 14 points off of our missed; and, we had 8 points in transition."

"Tough game," Coach Sampson concluded. "We're just really fortunate to get out with a win."

NEXT: Tuesday, January 6 -- vs Texas Tech, inside Fertitta Center. Tip is set for 8 pm CT on FS1.
