FORT WORTH, TX -- (Dickies Arena)

The Houston Cougars did not play pretty basketball Saturday night in Fort Worth, TX. Neither did Oklahoma State. Houston topped Oklahoma State 72-61 to improve to 10-2 this season.

Both teams battled, dove on the floor for loose balls, and committed numerous turnovers. Houston committed a season-high 19 turnovers while Oklahoma State lost the ball 18 times. The Coogs edged the Cowboys 20-19 in points off turnovers. The Cowboys outscored the Coogs 19-10 in second-chance points.

Houston led 35-23 with 3:26 remaining in the first half; however, Oklahoma State scored 7 consecutive points to end the half and the first 6 points to start the second half to take a 36-35 lead.

Reggie Chaney ended Houston's scoring drought with a three-point play for a 38-36 lead.

Houston players had a couple of personal scoring runs in the game: Kyler Edwards scored 11 straight points in the first half -- including 3 for 4 from three-point range. Edwards third three-pointer of the half gave him 1002 points in his collegiate career: 856 points at Texas Tech and 146 points at Houston.

Jamal Shead scored 10 straight points in the closing minutes of the second half.
