DeJon Jarreau to sign free agent contract with Miami Heat

Houston Cougars Houston guard DeJon Jarreau will sign a free-agent contract with the NBA's Miami Heat and compete on the team's Summer League squad on August 8-17 in Las Vegas.

Jarreau became the second Cougar to sign with an NBA team after teammate and All-American guard Quentin Grimes was taken by the New York Knicks with the No. 25 pick in the First Round.

Jarreau was the heart and soul of the Coogs' run to the 2021 NCAA Men's Final Four.

Jarreau was named The American Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the AAC's All-Conference Second Team.

Jarreau became the seventh player in UH history -- first since Charles "Bo" Outlaw during the 1992-'93 season -- to post a triple double when he scored 15 points and added 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Coogs' AAC quarterfinal win over Tulane.
