Stealth beats Blaze, 100-78

March 6, 2004
With their full compliment of players, the Stealth (9 – 5) doused the Blaze (6 – 8) by a score of 100 – 78. With Tina Thompson back from her Team USA routing of Cuba, and Cynthia Cooper on the court, the Stealth just seemed to click in this fast-paced game. The Stealth shot 33of 59 (55.9%) from the floor and 5of 10 (50%) from behind the arc.

By the time the first half buzzer sounded, the Stealth was holding a 13 point lead. In the second half, the Blaze stoked up the full court press in an attempt to overcome a 22 point deficit, and partially succeeded, cutting the lead to 12 with 7:45 left in the game. It seemed Keisha Anderson came out of nowhere on every inbound pass, stealing the ball and scoring in a messy 2-minute period. The Stealth took a timeout, then came back to amass a 25 point lead.

Tina Thompson demolished all other scorers and rebounders, racking up 32 points on 11 of 15 field goals and 3 for 3 from downtown to go with her 8 boards and 3 steals. She was perfect on her 7 free throw attempts. Tina had more points on the board than minutes played, with just 29 minutes on the court.

Cynthia Cooper (15) and Tiffany Johnson (13) were the only other Stealth players scoring in double figures as the Stealth spread the ball around.

Keisha Anderson scored team high 15 for the Blaze, while Latonya Johnson (11) and Jamie Redd (10) also made it to double figures.

With the foul shooting favoring the Stealth by 21 points, this could have been a much closer game, but with their first 100 point game, no one is asking where the points came from.
