Rice Women's Basketball Announces American Conference Schedule for 2025-26 Season

The American Conference has released the conference schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 Rice women's basketball season, a schedule that features an 18-game conference slate with an even nine home games and nine away games.

Beginning this season, the American Basketball Championship will feature the top 10 teams in a new five-day bracket format. The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will advance directly to the semifinals, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will maintain byes to the quarterfinals. The No. 5 and No. 6 seeds will receive byes to the second round. The 2026 Championship will run Tuesday through Saturday, March 10-14 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.

The conference opener is set for Dec. 30 on the road at South Florida in a rematch of last season's American Conference Championship game. The Florida swing will conclude on Jan. 3 at Florida Atlantic.

Rice has its first conference home game on Jan. 7 against Charlotte followed by UAB on Jan. 14.

Another road swing starts on Jan. 17 at North Texas before continuing to Tulsa on Jan. 20.

The Owls return to Tudor Fieldhouse for a pair of games on Jan. 24 and 28 against Tulane and Temple. Rice closes the month of January on the road at UTSA.

Rice heads off to Memphis on Feb. 7 before opening the first of three home games with North Texas (Feb. 10), Wichita State (Feb. 13) and South Florida (Feb. 17) all coming to South Main.

A road trip to East Carolina follows on Feb. 21 before heading to the northeast on Feb. 25 to face Temple.

Rice will welcome Tulsa to round out the February games before the final road game of the regular season at Charlotte on March 3.

The regular season finale is scheduled for March 7 when UTSA visits Tudor Fieldhouse.

Rice's non-conference schedule includes games against seven postseason teams from last season, at South Dakota State (NCAA), at Princeton (NCAA), Middle Tennessee (WBIT), UNLV (WBIT), Incarnate Word (WNIT), vs. Illinois State (WNIT) and UT-Arlington (WNIT).

The Owls will see several local matchups at Tudor Fieldhouse with Houston Christian and Sam Houston, while also heading crosstown to face Houston.

TV assignments and game times will be released at a later time.
