Rice graduate student guard Trae Broadnax was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Broadnax led the Owls to a pair of road wins at Louisiana and Houston Christian. He began the week scoring 14 points and tying a career-high with nine rebounds in an 83-61 victory at Louisiana. He also added a game-high six assists while connecting on four-of-seven from the field, one-of-two from three and five-of-six from the free throw line.
In a 61-58 win at Houston Christian, he scored a season-high 19 points, adding six rebounds and a game-high four assists.
For the week, he connected on 57.1% from the floor, 66.7% from three and 77.8% from the charity stripe.
Rice opens the Baha Mar Nassau Championship on Friday, Nov. 29 against Hofstra. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed by FloCollege.
