Travis Evee Named C-USA Newcomer of the Year

Rice Owls sophomore Travis Evee was named the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Evee becomes the first player in school history to earn the honor.
Evee ranks second on the team with 14.3 points per game, good for 12th-place in C-USA, while leading the team with 1.2 steals per game. Evee ranks second in the league in three-point field goal percentage, connecting on 40.2% from beyond the arc and 3.0 three-pointers made per game.
Evee has led team in scoring 12 times while scoring double-figures 19 times, both of which are team-highs. He has scored at least 20-points five times, including scoring 36 points against UTSA, the most points in Conference USA this year, while tying a school record with eight three-pointers to earn C-USA Player of the Week.
Evee leads Rice into this week's Conference USA Tournament. The West Division sixth-seeded Owls take on West seventh-seed Southern Miss at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, at The Star, in Frisco, TX.
