Rice Men's Basketball's Travis Evee Named C-USA Co-Player of the Week
POSTED: January 4, 2021 -- 1:48 p.m. CT
Rice Owls sophomore guard Travis Evee was named the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week.
Evee shared the honor with Charlotte's Jahmir Young. It's Evee's first career C-USA Player of the Week honor.
Evee helped Rice open Conference USA play by sweeping UTSA, averaging 23.0 points and 4.0 assists. In a 95-86 victory on Friday, Evee had a record day, scoring a career-high 36 points, including 23 in the second half, on 13-of-19 from the floor. The 36 points were the most by an Owl since 2008. Evee connected on eight three-pointers to tie the school record that was set 23 years ago. He also had four assists and two rebounds. In a back-and-forth game that saw nine ties and 17 lead changesĀ, Evee's record-tying three with 3:35 to play gave the Owls the lead for good as they closed the game on a 13-2 run. The following day, he helped Rice earn an 84-69 win over the Roadrunners, scoring 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting while recording four assists.
Evee's play helped Rice start C-USA play 2-0 for the first time since 2006-07. On the week, he connected on 63.0% (17-of-27) from the floor, which was the third highest percentage in C-USA this week. He also led the league with 10 three-pointers and a 55.6% (10-of-18) three-point percentage.
