UCF's Diamond Battles, Tulsa's Temira Poindexter Earn AAC Women's Hoops Honors for week ending January 30

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly women's basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, January 30.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Diamond Battles * Senior * Guard * UCF

Battles was the catalyst for UCF in a 2-0 conference week that led the Knights to solo first place in The American standings, averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest. Battles ended the week shooting 58.3 percent from the field (14-of-24) to lead all guards in the conference. Battles turned in her fifth 20-point game this season with 21 points, five boards and five assists in a 69-67 comeback win over Tulane on January 26. Battles added 14 points, five assists and two steals in a victory at Wichita State on January 29.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Temira Poindexter * Forward * Tulsa

Poindexter registered 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 blocks per game in a 1-1 week for Tulsa. Poindexter turned in 11 points and a pair of assists in an 80-68 win against Memphis on January 26. Poindexter scored seven points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists with six blocks for the Golden Hurricane in a 66-60 setback at Cincinnati on January 29.

Weekly Honor Roll

Arame Niang * Graduate * Forward * Cincinnati

Niang posted 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65.2 percent (15-of-23) for 1-1 Cincinnati; scored 18 points and gathered in eight rebounds in a win against Tulsa (January 29).

Emani Jefferson * Sophomore * Guard * Memphis

Jefferson registered 13.0 points and 2.5 steals per contest in a 1-1 Memphis week; logged 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals at Tulsa (January 26).

Bethy Mununga * Senior * Forward * South Florida

Mununga averaged a double-double of 12.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game in an undefeated week for South Florida; tallied 17 points and 13 rebounds at SMU (January 26) and pulled down a game-high 18 rebounds in a win at Houston (January 30).

Mia Davis * Graduate * Forward * Temple

Davis led The American with 23.0 points per game and a 71.4 field goal percentage (15-of-21) in a 1-1 Temple week; recorded 22 points and six rebounds in a win over Cincinnati (January 26) and added 24 points and 11 rebounds at Memphis (January 29).

Dynah Jones * Redshirt-Junior * Guard * Tulane

Jones averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game for Tulane in a 1-1 week; turned in 20 points and three rebounds at UCF (January 26) before scoring 14 points with seven assists and four steals in a win over East Carolina (January 29).
