Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu Wins 2020 John R. Wooden Award

The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced that Sabrina Ionescu of Oregon is the winner of the 2020 John R. Wooden Award® Women's Player of the Year. The announcement was made during ESPN SportsCenter.

Ionescu becomes the sixth women's player to win the Wooden Award™ multiple times, joining Seimone Augustus (’05 and ’06), Candace Parker (’07 and ’08), Maya Moore (’09 and ’11), Brittney Griner (’12 and ’13), and Breanna Stewart (’15 and ’16). She is the first player in NCAA history (male or female) to record 2,000 career points, 1,000 career assists, and 1,000 career rebounds. She is the NCAA all-time leader (men's or women's) with 26 triple-doubles, including an NCAA single-season record 8 triple doubles in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

Voting took place from March 16-23, 2020. As insisted upon by Coach Wooden at the Award’s creation 44 years ago, all players were certified by their universities as meeting or exceeding the criteria of the John R. Wooden Award.
