Texas A&M women's basketball announces non-conference schedule for 2019-'20 season
Posted: September 2, 2019 -- 8:59 a.m. CT
August 31, Texas A&M announced its 2019 women's basketball non-conference schedule, a 13-game slate that includes seven games against Top-100 RPI teams from 2018-19, six games against Power-5 teams and eight home games.
"When you're one of the few teams that have won a national championship, you owe it the game to play the best non-conference schedule you can," said head coach Gary Blair. "We want it loaded up because the non-conference is what makes you better for your conference schedule."
"We got a variety of different teams on the schedule, including perennial contenders and regional rivals who have a great chance of making the NCAA Tournament this year," added Blair. "This schedule ties in great competition and travel for our team, with visits to play in the hometowns of several players and trips that will be educational for our team outside of basketball."
In addition to previously-announced games against Duke (November 10), at Rice (November 17) and Oklahoma State (December 7), the Aggies face additional Power-5 opponents Southern California (November 23, Los Angeles), Florida State (December 1, Fort Worth), TCU (December 11, College Station) and Georgia Tech (December 20, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico).

After a November 1 exhibition against Oklahoma City, the Aggies open their season November 5, hosting Little Rock, in a matchup of coaches who rank fifth (Blair) and sixth (Little Rock's Joe Foley) on the active career wins list.
The Aggies face Central Arkansas for the seventh annual Elementary School Day on December 4 at 11 a.m. One of the most highly-attended games of the season, the previous six editions have averaged 7,587 fans.
In addition, the Aggies host Prairie View (November 27), Houston (December 15) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (December 29). Texas A&M faces Montana State (December 21) in a neutral site game to complete the Puerto Rico Coqui Classic.
Six teams on the Aggies' non-conference schedule—Florida State, Houston, Little Rock, Prairie View, Rice and TCU—reached the 2019 postseason.
