Memphis' DeAndre Williams, UCF's Taylor Hendricks Earn Weekly Honors for week ending February 12

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the fourteenth week of the 2022-23 season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DeAndre Williams * Senior * Forward * Memphis

Williams helped lead Memphis to a pair of victories last week by averaging 26.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The senior recorded 26 points, was 8-of-13 from the field and 10-of-10 from the free throw line at South Florida Wednesday and posted 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists against Temple on Sunday.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Taylor Hendricks * Forward * UCF

Hendricks averaged 20.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Knights. He tied a career high with 23 points against Wichita State on Wednesday and added 18 points against Tulsa on Saturday. It is Hendricks' seventh Freshman of the Week honor, breaking The American's record. Four student-athletes have six freshman weekly honors, including Dedric Lawson (2015-16), Precious Achiuwa (2019-20) and Jalen Duren (2021-22) of Memphis and Houston's Jarace Walker, who has six awards this season.

HONOR ROLL

Darius Johnson * Sophomore * Guard * UCF

Johnson averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 assists and had 14 total assists without a turnover in two wins for the Knights.

Marcus Sasser * Senior * Guard * Houston

Sasser recorded 25 points, three rebounds and two assists as the Cougars defeated Tulsa.

Zhuric Phelps * Sophomore * Guard * SMU

Phelps averaged 22.5 points and 5.0 assists as the Mustangs split a pair of games.

Kevin Cross * Junior * Forward * Tulane

Cross posted a big double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds as the Green Wave defeated Cincinnati.

Craig Porter Jr * Senior * Guard * Wichita State

Porter averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in two Shocker contests this week.
