Tulane's Jaylen Forbes, Houston's Jarace Walker Earn Weekly Honors for week ending January 8

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the ninth week of the 2022-23 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jaylen Forbes * Junior * Guard * Tulane
Forbes averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Green Wave went 2-0 in conference action. The junior had 20 points, including five 3-pointers against Tulsa on Wednesday night before dropping 22 points in a road victory at Temple on Saturday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jarace Walker * Forward * Houston
Walker averaged 22.0 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Cougars won a pair of league games. The forward exploded for 23 points and 10 rebounds against SMU on Thursday night, including 18 points in the first half. He followed that with 21 points in Houston's road victory over Cincinnati on Sunday.

C.J. Kelly * Senior * Guard * UCF
Kelly helped lead the Knights to a 2-0 week, including a career-high 30 points at East Carolina.
Viktor Lakhin * Redshirt-Sophomore * Forward * Cincinnati
Lakhin averaged 15.0 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Bearcats went 1-1 last week, earning a win on the road at Wichita State.
Marcus Sasser * Senior * Guard * Houston
Sasser averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 3.5 rebounds in a pair of games for the Cougars.
DeAndre Williams * Senior * Forward * Memphis
Williams recorded 19 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals in the Tigers' lone game last week, a home win over East Carolina.
Bryant Selebangue * Sophomore * Forward * Tulsa
Selebangue posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds on 11-of-13 shooting in the Golden Hurricane's lone game last week at Tulane.
