Memphis' Kendric Davis, UCF's Taylor Hendricks Earn Weekly Honors for week ending January 1

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the eighth week of the 2022-23 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendric Davis * Senior * Guard * Memphis
Davis averaged 27.5 points and 8.0 assists over two conference games last week. The senior guard had 24 points, nine assists and five steals in a second-half comeback win over South Florida on Thursday and recorded 31 points and seven rebounds at Tulane on Sunday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Taylor Hendricks * Forward * UCF
Hendricks averaged 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds over two league games for the Knights, including 14 points and five rebounds at then-No. 3 Houston on Saturday.
HONOR ROLL
Brandon Johnson * Sophomore * Guard * East Carolina
Johnson averaged 14.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in two games for the Pirates, including his seventh double-double of the season against Temple (11 points and 18 rebounds).
Tramon Mark * Sophomore * Guard * Houston
Mark averaged 16.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 63.2 percent from the field in two league wins for the Cougars.
Samuell Williamson * Senior * Forward * SMU
Williamson scored a season-high 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists in the Mustangs’ win over Tulsa on Sunday.
Jahlil White * Redshirt-Sophomore * Guard * Temple
White averaged a double-double with 12.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games for the Owls.
Sion James * Sophomore * Guard * Tulane
James averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds in a pair of Green Wave contests last week, including a career-high 30 points in a win over Memphis on Sunday.
