Temple's Tai Strickland, UCF's Darius Johnson Earn Weekly Honors for week ending February 20

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week ending February 20.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tai Strickland * Redshirt-Sophomore * Guard * Temple
Strickland led Temple to a 2-0 week by averaging 19.0 points and 3.5 rebounds. Without two other starters for the Owls, Strickland scored a career-high 27 points in a win over second-place SMU on Wednesday, February 16, while he recorded 11 points in the Owls' road victory over Cincinnati on Sunday, February 20.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Darius Johnson * Guard * UCF
Johnson was consistent last week as the Knights went 2-1, averaging 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He had 14 points in a win over Tulsa on Monday night, February 14 and grabbed at least five rebounds and dished out at least five assists in all three contests last week.

Weekly Honor Roll
Jeremiah Davenport * Junior * Guard * Cincinnati
Davenport averaged 17.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games last week for the Bearcats.
Tristen Newton * Sophomore * Guard * East Carolina
Newton posted an averaged 16.5 points and 6.0 assists as the Pirates went 1-1 last week.
Josh Carlton * Graduate * Center * Houston
Carlton averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Cougars took over first place in the league standings with wins over UCF and Wichita State.
Kendric Davis * Senior * Guard * SMU
After missing a game earlier in the week against Temple due to an injury, Davis bounced back strong by dropping 27 points, including six 3-pointers, in the Mustangs' win over Memphis.
Ricky Council IV * Freshman * Guard * Wichita State
Council averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in a pair of games for the Shockers last week.
