Houston's Kyler Edwards, UCF's Darius Johnson Earn Weekly Honors for week ending January 23

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week ending January 23.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyler Edwards * Senior * Guard * Houston
Edwards earned Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row after averaging 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Cougars. The senior guard recorded 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists against South Florida on Tuesday, January 18, and posted 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists with no turnovers against East Carolina on Saturday, January 22.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Darius Johnson * Guard * UCF
Johnson averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in a pair of come-from-behind wins for the Knights. He recorded 16 points and four rebounds against East Carolina on Tuesday and 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the win over Tulane on Saturday.

Weekly Honor Roll
Cheikh Mbacke Diong * Redshirt-Senior * Forward * UCF
Mbacke Diong averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in two wins. He had a double-double against Tulane with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Jeremiah Davenport * Junior * Guard * Cincinnati
Davenport was 7-of-9 from 3-point range, recording 24 points and four rebounds in the Bearcats' win over Tulsa on Thursday, January 20.
Tyler Harris * Redshirt-Senior * Guard * Memphis
Harris averaged 20.5 points off the bench as the Tigers went 1-1 last week. He was 7-of-14 from behind the arc for the week.
Kendric Davis * Senior * Guard * SMU
Davis led SMU to a win over Memphis on Thursday with 20 points, two rebounds and two steals.
Jaylen Forbes * Sophomore * Guard * Tulane
Forbes scored 17 points and added five rebounds and three steals in the Green Wave's close loss at UCF on Saturday.
