The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week ending December 26.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Hicks * Freshman * Guard * Temple
Hicks nearly set a conference record for 3-pointers in a game after recording 35 points, including 10 from behind the arc, in a win over Delaware State on Wednesday, December 22. The freshman, who's 10 3-pointers broke the Temple record and 35 points tied the school's freshman record, came off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds as well.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEKKenny Pohto * Forward * Wichita State
Pohto nearly recorded a double-double against Prairie View A&M with 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in a big win for the Shockers on Wednesday.

Perry posted 15 points, nine assists and six rebounds in the Knights' win over North Alabama on Wednesday.
Mike Saunders Jr. * Sophomore * Guard * Cincinnati
Saunders came off the bench and scored a team-high 15 points, all in the second half in the Bearcats' home win over Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, December 21.
Tristen Newton * Sophomore * Guard * East Carolina
Newton led the Pirates to a win over Southern Miss on Tuesday with 22 points, six assists and four rebounds.
Josh Carlton * Graduate * Center * Houston
Carlton scored a team-high 20 points with five rebounds in a win over Texas State on Wednesday.
Tyson Etienne * Sophomore * Guard * Wichita State
Etienne recorded 20 points, five assists and four steals in the Shockers' win over Prairie View A&M.
