SMU's Kendric Davis, Memphis' Jalen Duren Earn AAC Men's Basketball Weekly Awards for week ending November 21

The American Athletic Conference announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the second week of the 2021-22 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kendric Davis * Senior * Guard * SMU
Davis averaged 24.3 points and 5.7 assists in three games last week for the Mustangs. He nearly had a triple-double against Northwestern State on Monday, November 15 with 19 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Davis then recorded 25 points on Thursday, November 18 against Southeastern Louisiana and 29 on Sunday, Nov. 21 against Missouri.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jalen Duren * Center * Memphis
Duren led the Tigers to two wins last week averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks. Against Western Kentucky on Friday, November 19, the freshman recorded 22 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks, only the third 20-point, 15-rebound, 5-block performance in conference history. He also had 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocks against Saint Louis on Tuesday, November. 16.
Weekly Honor Roll
Tristen Newton * Sophomore * Guard * East Carolina
Newton averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in three games at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, including 28 against Davidson on Sunday.
Marcus Sasser * Junior * Guard * Houston
Sasser led Houston to a 67-47 victory over Virginia on Tuesday night with 19 points, four assists and three steals.
Jalen Cook * Freshman * Guard * Tulane
Cook led the Green Wave with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals at Florida State on Wednesday, November 17.
Sam Griffin * Sophomore * Guard * Tulsa
Griffin averaged 17.3 points and 2.0 assists in a 2-1 week for the Golden Hurricane. The sophomore scored 21 and 13 points in wins over Rhode Island and Oregon State, respectively.
Tyson Etienne * Sophomore * Guard * Wichita State
Etienne averaged 27.5 points, including 5.5 3-pointers, in two games at the Roman Main Event in Las Vegas. He had 27 in an overtime loss to Arizona, making the game-tying 3-point field goal to send the game to an extra frame. Against UNLV on Sunday, he scored 28 points, including the game-winning free throws with three seconds left.
