Tulsa's Brandon Rachal, Memphis' D.J. Jeffries Earn AAC Men's Basketball Weekly Awards for week ending January 20

The American Athletic Conference announced the men's basketball weekly honors for week ending January 20.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Brandon Rachal, Junior, Guard, Tulsa

Rachal averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a pair of road victories for Tulsa. The junior had 21 points and seven rebounds at East Carolina on Wednesday (Jan. 15) before adding 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists at Tulane on Saturday (Jan. 18).

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

D.J. Jeffries, Forward, Memphis

Jeffries led the Tigers with 18 points in a 60-49 win over Cincinnati on Thursday night (Jan. 16). The forward hit four 3-point field goals while also grabbing four rebounds in the win.

Weekly Honor Roll

Dazon Ingram, Redshirt-Senior, Guard, UCF

Ingram averaged 13.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in a pair of wins for the Knights.

Jarron Cumberland, Senior, Guard, Cincinnati

Cumberland averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in the Bearcats’ 1-1 week.

DeJon Jarreau, Junior, Guard, Houston

Jarreau averaged 10.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two wins for the Cougars.

Precious Achiuwa, Freshman, Forward, Memphis

Achiuwa recorded his conference-record sixth consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Tigers’ win over Cincinnati.

Tyson Jolly, Junior, Guard, SMU

In a 1-1 week for the Mustangs, Jolly recorded a big double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Temple.
