HBU Huskies Men's Basketball Announces 2019-'20 Southland Conference Schedule

On Friday afternoon, HBU James Sears Bryant Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell released the Huskies' 2019-20 Southland Conference schedule which expands this year to 20 league games.
"We're starting earlier this year than we have in the past with a game in December at Stephen F. Austin," said Cottrell. "That's certainly a game we'll all be pointing toward to start out conference play. After Christmas break it comes fast and furious right at the first of the year. Playing 20 conference games as opposed to 18 is a good thing for our conference. The more you can play home-and-home series in league play creates a more balanced schedule."

The Huskies will kick off the conference portion of the schedule in mid-December with a trip up highway 59 to Nacogdoches, TX, to take on SFA on Wednesday, December 18, in the only meeting of the season between the two teams. HBU will follow that up with its final non-conference game of the year on Dec. 22 with a trip to New Mexico before picking back up on Thursday, January 2, for the season's lone matchup with Central Arkansas inside Sharp Gym.
"I think it's going to be a real battle throughout the year, if you look at who's returning and who people have signed," Cottrell added. "I think you're looking at a conference race that's going to be exciting for the fans and we're going to be tested every night if we want to have a chance to be in the conference race late in the season."
The SLC Tournament is set for March 11-14 at the Merrell Center in Katy, TX.
The Huskies open the 2019-20 season on Tuesday, November 5, in Tulsa, OK. at high noon when they will play the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
