Zach Naylor announces he's transferring to Texas Southern

POSTED: April 26, 2019 -- 6:47 p.m. CT

Zach Naylor announced he's transferring from Ole Miss to Texas Southern University.

Naylor, 6'8", 220, played in 19 games for Ole Miss during the 2018-'19 season. Naylor played 88 minutes for the Rebels this past season. He scored 14 points in 19 games and shot 41.7 fg% (5 for 12).

Naylor is from the Houston area (Richmond, TX). He graduated from Fort Bend Travis High School before attending Weatherford College for two seasons prior to Ole Miss.

Naylor posted solid numbers at Weatherford College: He averaged 20.0 points and 9.1 rebounds during his freshman season at Weatherford. Naylor averaged 18.2 points per game on 50.4 fg% during his sophomore season at Weatherford.

When Naylor signed with Ole Miss, former Ole Miss Head Coach Andy Kennedy, said of Naylor: "Zach is an ultra-talented forward who also had an outstanding freshman season in the always competitive NTJCAC. Zach is a player that can play a number of different positions because of his combination of size, athleticism and basketball skills. He can rebound (9 per game as a freshman), make the ‘3’ (42% as a freshman) and create off the dribble. Losing two quality players in our front court after this season made signing a high-level JC forward a priority for us in this class, and we feel we did just that by adding Zach to our program."

Kermit Davis replaced Kennedy as head coach on March 15, 2018.

Naylor decided to transfer from Ole Miss on April 1, 2019.

Naylor will have one season of eligibility remaining at Texas Southern.
