Houston Cougars 8th in Coaches' Poll; 9th in AP Poll; 4th in NCAA's NET Rankings

The Houston Cougars (25-1) moved up 1 spot in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 and remains 9th in the Associated Press Top 25 national polls. Both polls were announced Monday. In addition to those polls, Houston moved up to 4th in the NCAA's latest NET rankings.
Houston received 563 points to rank No. 8 in the Week 15 USA TODAY Coaches' Poll (517 points and 9th in the Week 14 poll). Houston received 1085 points to rank 9th in the Week 16 Associated Press Top 25 Poll (9th last week with 1022 points in the Week 15 poll).
As of the games played through February 17th, Houston is ranked 4th in the NCAA's NET Rankings. The NET rankings replaced RPI as the primary sorting tool for evaluating teams.
The system relies on game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency and qualities of wins and losses.
It was approved in July after consultation with the Division I Men's Basketball committee, National Association of Basketball Coaches, top basketball analytics and Google Cloud Professional Services.
The Coogs' next game is Saturday, February 23, vs USF, at 5 p.m., on ESPN2.
