Cincinnati's Cumberland earns AAC Top Weekly Honor; ECU's Gardner earns AAC's top Freshman Honor of the Week

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the 11th week of the men's college basketball season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jarron Cumberland - Cincinnati - Junior - Guard - Wilmington, OH
Cumberland averaged 26.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and went 20-of-26 from the free throw line as Cincinnati improved to 16-3 overall and 5-1 in The American with a pair of wins last week. The junior scored a career-high 34 points, making a career-best 14-of-16 free throws and swiping a season-high four steals in a win over USF. It marked the most points scored by a Bearcat since Troy Caupain tallied 37 points in 56 minutes against UConn in a four-overtime American tournament quarterfinals thriller on March 11, 2016. The 34-point effort also vaulted Cumberland into Cincinnati's 1,000-point club as the 53rd member in school history. He also helped the Bearcats earn a hard-fought road win at Wichita State, posting a team-high 18 points with seven rebounds. Cumberland has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season, including three times in conference action.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jayden Gardner - ECU - Forward - Wake Forest, NC
Gardner, who earns his fourth Freshman of the Week accolade, scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Pirates' only game of the week against rv/- Temple. He was 8-of-17 from the floor, 1-of-3 from 3-point range and 10-of-12 at the free throw line. Gardner scored 21 second-half points, making 7-of-11 shots and all six of his free throws. He also handed out a season-high four assists, which was the team high vs. the Owls. It was his eighth 20-point game of the season as he led ECU in scoring for the 13th time this season. Gardner made 10-or-more free throws in a game for the fifth time this season.
HONOR ROLL
Jalen Adams - UConn - Senior - Guard
Averaged 29.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and shot 54.5-percent from the field in a 1-1 week. Scored a season-high 31 points and in a win over Tulane and added three steals.
Corey Davis, Jr. - Houston - Senior - Guard
Scored 20 points in a win over SMU and helped the Cougars to 2-0 week with a win at USF. Was 8-of-14 from the field with two 3-pointers, three assists, one block and one steal against the Mustangs.
Kareem Brewton, Jr. - Memphis - Senior - Guard
Made a career-high six 3-pointers in a home victory over SMU. Led five different Tigers in double figures with 20 points against the Mustangs.
Jeriah Horne - Tulsa - Redshirt-Sophomore - Forward
Averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a 1-1 week. Scored a career-high 27 points off the bench in a win over UConn. Made 8-of-11 field goals, 3-of-4 3-pointers, 8-of-8 free throws against the Huskies.
Markis McDuffie - Wichita State - Senior - Forward
Topped 20-points in fourth-straight game with a contest-high 23 as WSU handed UCF its first conference loss. Put up 21 points against Cincinnati. 16-of-29 from the field and 6-of-11 3-pointers in a 1-1 week.
