Coogs to play Oregon Saturday, December, 1 in first game inside Fertitta Center

During a Monday afternoon press conference on the floor of the Fertitta Center construction site, Houston Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman and Men's Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced the Coogs will play the Pac-12's Oregon Ducks Saturday, December 1, in the first game inside Fertitta Center.

Coach Sampson says the tip-off for the game will be at 8 p.m. In addition to the home game against Oregon, Coach Sampson mentioned the Coogs' non-conference schedule will include road games against Oklahoma State (Big 12) and BYU (Mountain West) as well home games against LSU (Southeastern Conference) and Saint Louis (Atlantic 10).

In the first regular season game in the Fertitta Center, the Houston Cougars (@UHCougarMBK) will play the Oregon Ducks Saturday, December 1, at 8pm. Coogs' Head Coach Kelvin Sampson "puts a bow on a great non-conference schedule for us". The Coogs also play at Oklahoma State; at BYU; and home games against LSU and Saint Louis.

Sampson also mentioned he knows the Houston Cougars' men's basketball program "has arrived" when fans come to see the Coogs play rather than the team the Coogs are playing against.

But, I'll know our program has arrived when people come to see us play and not who we're playing against...We've got to get our students in the habit of coming to watch our basketball team.
