The Houston Cougars (12-0) moved up one spot in the USA Today / Coaches Top 25 national poll while the Coogs moved down one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 national poll. Both polls were announced Monday.
Houston received 203 points to land at No. 19 (up from No. 20 last week) in the Week 7 USA TODAY Coaches' Poll and earned 274 points to rank No. 22 in the Week 8 Associated Press Top 25 Poll (down from 21 with 266 points in the Week 7 poll).
This marks the second straight season that Houston is ranked nationally. A year ago, the Cougars finished the 2017-18 season at No. 21 in the final Associated Press and at No. 22 in the final USA TODAY Coaches' poll.
Houston has not been ranked in back-to-back seasons since 1983-84 -- the Phi Slama Jama Era.
Houston's next game is Saturday, December 29, against NJIT, at 3 p.m., inside Fertitta Center.
