Cincinnati's Cumberland earns AAC Top Weekly Honor; USF's Yetna repeats as AAC's top Freshman of the Week

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the seventh week of the men's college basketball season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jarron Cumberland - Cincinnati - Junior - Guard - Wilmington, OH
Cumberland averaged a team-high 18.5 points, made eight three-pointers, shot 61.5-percent (8-of-13) from 3-point range and 52.0-percent (13-of-25) from the as he led Cincinnati to a 2-0 week. The junior registered his fifth 20-point game of 2018-19, pouring in a game-high 25 points in Cincinnati’s 93-64 victory over UCLA. The guard shot 9-of-17 from the field against the Bruins with four three-pointers, five rebounds and two steals. He tallied 12 points with four three-pointers against South Carolina State. Cumberland is averaging a team-high 16.2 points while shooting 47.1 percent (32-of-68) from three-point range with 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals this season.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Alexis Yetna - USF - F - Paris, France
Yetna earned his second-straight American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honor. The rookie averaged 12.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting 58.8-percent from the field in wins over FIU and Alcorn State. He scored nine points, grabbed 13 rebounds and had three steals in a road win at FIU. USF has now opened the season with eight wins in its first 10 games for the first time since the 2013-14 season. His 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Alcorn State gave him a league-leading fifth double-double of the season. Yetna also posted a career-high nine offensive rebounds in the win over Alcorn. His play has helped USF to a five-game winning streak for the first time since 2007.
HONOR ROLL
Armoni Brooks – Houston – Junior – Guard
Led No. 21/20 Houston with 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in wins over Utah State and Coppin State. Win versus Coppin State gives Houston 25-straight home wins – the longest streak in the country.
Kyvon Davenport – Memphis – Senior – Forward
Averaged 14.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks on 70-percent shooting in a 2-0 week. Second double-double of the year in win over Southern Miss with a career-high 17 points and 11 boards.
Nate Pierre-Louis – Temple – Sophomore – Guard
Scored a season-high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting in Temple's 82-64 win over Drexel at the Palestra. Added nine rebounds, four assists and a steal in the victory.
Laquincy Rideau – USF – Redshirt-Junior – Guard
Averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 4.5 steals in wins at FIU and against Alcorn State. Scored a season-high 28 points with seven rebounds, nine assists and five steals versus an 8-2 FIU team that was ranked second in the NCAA with 96.6 points per game.
Jimmy Whitt, Jr. - SMU - Junior - Guard
Set a career-high with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting in a win over Cornell. His team high in scoring helped give the Mustangs six wins in their past seven games. Added six rebounds, a game-high four assists and three steals.
