Rockets sign contract extensions with Sengun and Green

Tuesday afternoon, the Houston Rockets announced center Alperen Sengun and guard Jalen Green have signed contract extensions. Both deals came ahead of the NBA's 5 pm CT deadline for rookie extensions for members of the 2021 NBA Draft Class.

Sengun's deal is a five-year, $185 million extension which includes a player option in the fifth year.

"Alperen has established himself as one of the game’s great young big men,” said Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone. “He plays the game with a contagious joy and flair that is truly unique. We believe in the person and player that he is and even moreso, we believe in the person and player that he is becoming. We are really excited about our future together.”

Last season, Sengun averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.

Green's deal is a three-year, $106 million extension which includes a player option in the third year.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the growth Jalen has shown since becoming a part of the Rockets,” said Rafael Stone. “He is an extraordinary talent with an equally extraordinary work ethic. We look forward to his continued development as a pivotal part of our future.”

Last season, Green averaged 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. However, during the final 15 games of last season, Green averaged 27.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.
