Houston Cougars Women's Basketball Welcomes Guard Leilani Augmon

Houston Cougars Women's Basketball Head Coach Ronald Hughey announced the signing of guard Leilani Augmon to the 2024-25 roster on Tuesday.

"We are thrilled to welcome Leilani to our family," Hughey said. "Leilani will add depth and experience to our squad. Not only can she defend and score, but she also has the right mindset that fits our culture. She is competitive, athletic and a great teammate."

Augmon, a 5'11 guard out of San Jose, Calif., joins Ashley Chevalier, Kateri Poole, Summer Bostock, Eylia Love and Kiera Edmonds as the new six additions on Houston's roster heading into the 2024-25 season.

Augmon spent the 2023-24 season at Troy where she played in 28 games, including four in the WNIT, averaging 4.6 points and shooting 92.3 percent at the line. She totaled three double-digit scoring performances against Texas State, App State and South Alabama.

Prior to Troy, Augmon spent two seasons at Arkansas State. Augmon did not see action during the 2021-22 season and made her Division I debut the following season. During her time with the Red Wolves, Augmon played 24.6 minutes through 24 games and six starts, where she shot 40.5 percent from the floor and 74.3 percent from the free-throw line. She averaged eight points and 4.6 rebounds and tallied eight double-figure games. Augmon scored 14 points in her debut and grabbed eight rebounds off the bench.

The San Jose, Calif., native started her collegiate career with Salt Lake Junior College and Seward County Community College. At SLJC, Augmon led the Bruins to a 16-5 record on 9.4 points and 8.3 rebounds. In her freshman season at Seward, Augmon was voted the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Co-Freshman of the Year, First Team All-KJCCC and NJCAA All-Star.
