Houston's Maliyah Johnson to miss 2024-25 Season Due to Knee Injury

Houston Cougars Women's Basketball senior forward Maliyah Johnson will miss the 2024-25 season after she suffered a right knee injury, Head Coach Ronald Hughey announced Saturday.
"We are heartbroken for Maliyah," Hughey said. "Maliyah is one of our leaders and we will miss her presence on the court this season. We will support her every step of the way during her recovery. She is strong and we know she will return stronger than ever."
Johnson joined Houston for the 2023-24 season and made an immediate impact for the Cougars. She appeared in all 30 games and made six starts in Houston's final seven games of the season.
The Columbus, Ohio, native tallied a career-high 24 points against Grambling (Nov. 19, 2023) and recorded nine double-digit scoring efforts, including six in Big 12 Conference play.
