Houston Cougars Women's Basketball Adds Transfers Avalon Miller and Kierra Sanderlin to Roster

Ronald Hughey, Houston Cougars Women's basketball head coach, announced the addition of transfers Kierra Sanderlin and Avalon Miller to the 2022-23 roster.

Sanderlin, 5'10, guard / forward, comes to Houston after playing her freshman season at Rutgers University. During her freshman campaign, Sanderlin played in 10 games averaging 6.0 minuets per contest. She made her collegiate debut against South Alabama on Nov. 12 and netted eight points on 3-of-4 shooting against No. 9 Arizona. The Converse, Texas, native was a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State selection as a senior after leading Judson High School to the state semifinals with 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 4.0 steals per game.

Miller, 6'4, forward, arrives in Houston after playing at Gulf Coast State College. The Salt Lake City, Utah, native played in 23 games for the Commodores, starting 16. The forward closed out her season with 106 rebounds, including 51 offensive rebounds. In her final game with Gulf Coast State, Miller recorded a season-high 13 points going 6-for-9 from the field with two rebounds.
