Houston's Miya Crump and Laila Blair Earn All-Conference Accolades

Houston Cougars redshirt sophomore Miya Crump and freshman Laila Blair received American Athletic Conference All-Conference honors Sunday afternoon.

Blair was one of 5 freshmen tabbed to The American All-Freshman team. She has had a stellar debut season for the Cougars, posting nine double-digit score efforts and averaging nearly 10 points per game. The highly touted Houston area standout has made eight starts for the Cougars this season and has led the team in scoring on four separate occasions. She is on pace to takeover fifth place in the Houston record books for freshman single-season assist average (2.2) and is currently fifth in the Houston record book for freshman single-season free throw shooting percentage (74.6). Blair has been a force on the defensive end as well with 30 steals this season, including a career-high six against Temple which was the most by a UH freshman since the 2016-17 season. Blair is the 12the Cougars to be named to an All-Freshman team and the fourth Cougars since UH joined The American dating back to the 2016-17 season.

Crump finishes her first year of action at Houston with Third Team All-Conference accolades. The Third Ward product posted eight consecutive double-digit scoring efforts and 10 during the regular season. She leads the team in scoring with 10.3 points per games including a season-high 18 points at Cincinnati. Crump has been a force for the Cougars defensively with a team-high 16 blocks this season and has been a gamechanger on the boards with a team-high 81 defensive rebounds. Crump is the second Cougar to earn Third Team All-Conference honors since UH joined The American.
