Houston's Dymond Gladney Earns The American Player of the Week Honors

Houston Cougars Women's Basketball junior guard Dymond Gladney was rewarded for a stellar outing in Cincinnati earning American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
Gladney led all scorers at Fifth Third Arena with a season-high 23 points. She also recorded 2 rebounds and a team-high four steals. The 20-point outing marked the fourth of Gladney's career and her first this season. She paced the Cougars with a team-high 56 assists this season and 34 steals.
The weekly honor marks the Cougars third this season and the second of Gladney's career.
Houston's next game is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, on the road, against the Wichita State Shockers. Tip time is set for 6 p.m. CT. ESPN+ will stream the game. (Get ESPN+)
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dymond Gladney * Junior * Guard * Houston
Gladney enjoyed the best overall performance by an American player for the week in a road win at Cincinnati on February 20, ranking second in the conference in points, field goal percentage and steals. Gladney tallied 23 points and four steals in the victory against the Bearcats, shooting .643 (9-of-14) from the field and .600 (3-of-5) from beyond 3-point range. Gladney was 5-for-6 for 13 points in the second quarter alone.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JerKaila Jordan * Guard * Tulane
Jordan earned an unprecedented sixth freshman of the week honor after exploding in the scoring column against the top two teams in The American last week. Jordan averaged 28.5 points per game to pace the league, logging the fourth-most steals at 3.0 per game and the eighth-best shooting percentage (.526) on all attempts from the floor. Jordan went off for 28 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals against UCF on Feb. 17 before going for 29 points, three boards and two steals versus No. 12/15 USF on February 20.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Bethy Mununga * Senior * Forward * USF
Mununga averaged 18.0 points and a conference-best 15.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 USF week; tallied 19 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks against Cincinnati and logged 17 points, 17 boards and five steals versus Tulane.
Alexa Williamson * Junior * Forward * Temple
Williamson scored 18 points and chipped in 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a win at Tulsa; hit 6-of-10 (.600) attempts from the floor against the Golden Hurricane.
Lashonda Monk * Senior * Guard * East Carolina
Monk notched 18 points and five steals in a home win against Wichita State; connected on 6-of-8 (.750) shots from the floor, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the 3-point line.
Alisha Lewis * Sophomore * Guard * UCF
Lewis averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game in a 2-0 UCF week; scored 16 points and chipped in four assists and two steals at Tulane before notching 15 points, five assists and three steals against Tulsa.
Asia Strong * Junior * Forward * Wichita State
Posted 20 points and seven rebounds on the road at East Carolina; shot 7-for-12 (.583) in the game, including 2-for-4 from 3-point range.
