Houston's Laila Blair Named The American Freshman of the Week

Houston Cougars Women's Basketball freshman guard Laila Blair caps off a stellar week of play with American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
Blair helped the Cougars improve to 12-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play this past week with wins over both Temple and Memphis. In the two games last week, Blair averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per contest.
Blair had a career-high six steals at Temple, the most in a single-game by a Cougar freshman since the 2016-17 season. In the Cougars annual Pink Game, Blair posted a career-high seven assists, the most by a Houston freshman in a single-game since the 2015-16 season.
The award marks the first Freshman of the Week award for UH since Tatyana Hill was named The American Freshman of the Week on January 28, 2019.
