Britney Onyeje transfers from UCF to Houston Cougars
POSTED: May 16, 2019 -- 7:57 p.m. CT
Houston Cougars women's basketball head coach Ronald Hughey added to his roster this afternoon: 5'9" Britney Onyeje has transferred from UCF to the Coogs.
Brittney announced her decision this evening via Twitter:
Onyeje redshirted the 2018-'19 season at UCF. However, unless she's granted a waiver from the NCAA, Onyeje is not expected to play for the Coogs until the 2020-'21 season.
"Britney is a magnificent kid," Coach Hughey said. "She will be tremendous for our culture as well a great student. When you see her in person and when she plays she will remind you of Julia Blackshell-Fair (5'10" junior in the fall): athletic, kind-hearted, humble and an overall great kid that will do great things for this program."
Onyeje graduated from Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, TX. She earned Team MVP honors for the 2017-'18 season; and, she was a two-time Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-State and All-Region selection her junior and senior years.
