Kiyron Powell Leaves Houston Cougars Men's Basketball Program

Houston Cougars sophomore big man Kiyron Powell has left the program for personal reasons and will enter the transfer portal, Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Sunday.

A native of Evansville, IN, Powell sat out the 2021-22 season as a redshirt. As a freshman in 2020-21, he competed in 14 games and enjoyed a career day with 11 points and 13 rebounds against Our Lady of the Lake for his first double-double.

“We wish Kiyron the best in the next chapter of his life,” Sampson said.
