Marcus Sloan, founder of OTR Exposure, says Tugler's game is tailor made for the Coogs.

"JoJo is a long, athletic, rangy shot blocker, rebounder, finisher at the rim. He has a solid handle and is a better passer than people think.

"Coach Sampson and his staff grew him in their “UH garden”: he does everything they value. He defends and rebounds at a high level; and, he loves to play and compete.

"Having him commit before June 1st says that UH is one of the elite programs in the country. He was about to be recruited heavily by all of the Big 12 powerhouses. Coach Kellen Sampson made him a priority this past fall and it's paid off."

Tugler choose the Coogs over SMU, TCU, Texas, Tulsa, Xavier, and other college basketball programs.

Tugler is Houston's second Class of 2023 commitment. Kordelius (Kordel) Jefferson, 6'4" junior guard from Arlington Martin HS, announced his commitment to the Coogs on May 16.

According to Marcus Sloan, Jefferson and Tugler are two of the top 10 Class of 2023 players in the state of Texas. Both have committed to the Coogs.
