Eight home games inside the Fertitta Center including a November 16 matchup versus the Virginia Cavaliers highlight the Houston Cougars Men's Basketball 2021-22 nonconference schedule.

The 2021-22 season begins with a November 6 exhibition against Montana Tech, where Coach Kelvin Sampson began his award-winning head coaching career during the 1981-82 season.

From there, the home schedule continues against Hofstra (November 9) in the Coogs' regular-season opener. It will be Houston's first meeting against the Pride in school history.

The Coogs then take on crosstown-rival Rice (November 12) before facing Virginia (November 16). The game against the Cavaliers features two of the nation's Top-Three winningest teams since 2017-18 with the Cougars (111) and Virginia (107) trailing only Gonzaga (127).

Houston then competes at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational on November 22-24 inside the Lahaina Civic Center in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. The Cougars open that prestigious tournament against Butler on November 22 and will face the winner-loser of Texas A&M-Wisconsin on November 23 before closing out the event on November 24.

The Coogs close out the month against Northwestern State on November 30 inside the Fertitta Center.

Houston opens the month of December against Bryant on December 3 inside Fertitta Center in the first meeting between the schools with a December 6 showdown following against Alcorn State.

After a December 11 road contest at Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL, the Coogs meet Oklahoma State on December 18 inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, in the Hoop Hype XL | College Basketball Showcase. Houston then closes out its non-conference slate when it plays host to Texas State on December 22 inside the Fertitta Center.

Seven lettermen and two starters return from last season's squad which posted a 28-4 record, advanced to the sixth NCAA Tournament Final Four in school history and captured the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship.

The Coogs' 18-game American Athletic Conference schedule as well as game times and broadcasting networks for all games will be announced at a later date.

The 2022 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship will take place March 10-13 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
