Quentin Grimes, Houston Cougars junior guard, announced he will declare for the NBA Draft and sign with an agent.
"Playing in the NBA has been a life-long dream of mine. It's been an honor for a hometown kid to be able to wear the 'Houston" jersey across my chest for the past two years.
"To Coach Sampson and Coach Q, thank you for always pushing me, holding me accountable and always challenging me to be the best version of myself – both on and off the court. To my teammates, thank you for being with me on this journey, pushing each other to work hard every day and making history. Thank you to my family, and especially my parents, for always providing me with unconditional love and support.
"To the fans of the University of Houston and the entire city, thank you for the constant love and support you have shown me since the moment I decided to come back home.
"With the full support of my family, friends, coaches and teammates, I have decided I will be declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft and plan to hire an agent."
"We are really proud of Quentin and the improvement he has made while he has been in our program. This is the right step for Quentin, and we will support him throughout the process," Head Coach Kelvin Sampson said. "From Day One, Quentin has worked hard, and he has been a huge part of the success in our program during the last two years. We wish him all the best going forward and will do everything in our power to help him succeed at the next level."
