American Athletic Conference opener inside Fertitta Center called off due to health & safety protocols

UPDATED: December 27, 2021 -- 3:42 p.m. CT -- AAC changes COVID-19 operation protocol. 12/28 UH - Cincinnati game now POSTPONED rather than CANCELED.

POSTED: December 26, 2021 -- 1:43 p.m. CT

Due to health and safety protocols within the University of Houston Men's Basketball program, Tuesday's American Athletic Conference opener vs. Cincinnati inside the Fertitta Center has been canceled.

The game will be considered a no-contest by the NCAA. As per current American Athletic Conference policy and for the purpose of conference standings only, Cincinnati will be awarded a forfeit win, and Houston will be assessed a forfeit loss.

In light of the changing public health environment, the American Athletic Conference's athletics directors will meet this week to determine if changes need to be made to the league's current policy.
